I came across these pictures today and couldnt resist adding them to my blog - not necessarily relevant to wallpapers and lampshades, but WOW...what bums!! I loved the arty way in which they have been shot.

Building my website
While my sister Em was here we also did some preliminary shots for my website. I am rather excited. The idea is to show some of my products in a real setting...so some of the things you see will be for sale and I am afraid some will not! Yes, the setting is my home and the peeling wallpaper is not some trendy idea of design - its simply the way it is right now - on its way off - soon to be replaced by the first mbd wallpaper - watch this space.....

Sisterly love
I have just had my (younger) sister to stay for a few days which not only mixed up the normality of our week, but came as a great blessing to me as Lani was ill and I needed another pair of hands. It was heaven having her here, I miss not having my family around more often, we all live so far apart and its the most natural thing when they are here, so thank you Em for hankering down with us during this cold snowy period. Em is becoming a photographer worth knowing about and so in celebration of her marvellous website I am showing some of her photographs. As a double celebration I have chosen the pictures she has taken of my other sisters house and work; she is an interior designer and a very good one at that! So here for all of you out there that can appreciate style, colour and composition is a bit of 'sisterly love'.

Peggy Angus

My blog would not be complete without a mention of Peggy Angus, a total inspiration to me. Her hand block printed wallpapers were amazing and their beauty is so timeless, fitting right in with any new interior of today. I am about to go and study her lino cuts more at the local archives, but in the meantime I am enjoying her biography 'Art for Life' an incredible book which was hand printed and supported with a portfolio of her works. My interest in her has been concreted by the fact that she lived very near here and that the author, Carolyn Trant lives so close, in Lewes. When I was searching for a copy of the book I managed to make contact with Carolyn who kindly invited me into her home to see her own copy. To have made such a close contact with this talented lady only makes my interest grow and I am sure that future designs will be heavily influenced by her - well I hope so anyway! Here is just one of her designs, which is currently being used by a fabric company and selling successfully.

Snow at last
You can imagine the excitement levels this morning...snow at last!!
Its so beautiful and at least at the crack of dawn we get to enjoy it all to ourselves....we can sleep later, when the smoke is rising from the fire, the roast chicken has been devoured and the treacle tart has been wolfed down as we refuel from the efforts of dragging the toboggan back up the slope for 'just one more' go.
